If it were not for the expensive air tickets from Manila to Casablanca, Morocco would be an affordable destination for us Filipinos. There is no direct flight from Manila to Casablanca, although there are two main indirect routes, one is through Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and the other is through Muscat, Oman.
After months of searching for air tickets, I found that the cheapest flight is from Oman Air, a route from Manila to Casablanca, stopping and diverting in Muscat. Typical travel time is about 19 to 25 hours. The round-trip ticket price from Manila is at least 500-800 USD or 25,000-45,000 pesos.
What is the cost of accommodation in Morocco?
Compared with hotels in Manila, accommodation in hotels is relatively cheap. There are many cheap hotels and family-run hotels in Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech and Essaouira. During the entire stay, I only paid 6,137 pesos for accommodation.
