day trips from fesFez Guided Tour
Fez guided tour
EpicaTravel invites you to take part in this essential and enriching Fez Guided Tour. This walking tour will be dedicated to exploring everything that the spiritual capital of Morocco has to offer. In fact, Fez was the first-ever imperial city founded by an Islamic dynasty (the Idrisid dynasty) in Morocco, hence why it’s considered a spiritual and holy capital. And it’s a UNESCO world heritage site.
We will begin the tour by picking you up from your accommodation or your preferred meeting spot in the morning. We will walk you through the narrow streets of Fez’s old Medina, in order to learn more about the traditions and customs of locals, and how they manage to all live peacefully side by side in an entirely packed space. But one of the many things about the old medina is that cars are not allowed inside, so it’s one of the few pedestrian-only locations in the world. You will also get to discover the wide range of creative and traditional artisanal products displayed by craftsmen.
Our tour will also include the colorful Chouara leather tanneries, where you can find workers still using the same all natural techniques of dying and processing leather, passed down from generation to generation. After that, we will visit a variety of buildings showcasing the finest Arabo-Islamic architecture, such as Al Quaraouine University (the oldest university in the world) and the traditional Islamic Madrassas. When we are done with that we will explore the Jewish quarter “Mellah”, which dates back to a time when Jews would find refuge in Moroccan cities during the 17th century.
Finally, those were only some of the many things that one can do and see in Fez, and we haven’t even mentioned all the museums and also the modern part of the city. Make sure to join this day trip to see it all for yourself. And we will end our Fez guided tour.
