When you are vacationing in the Smoky Mountains there are hundreds of attractions and activities to choose from. Here is a list of the top five attractions in Gatlinburg to visit during your stay:

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies

Visiting Ripley’s Gatlinburg Aquarium is a wonderful way to experience marine life from around the world in a variety of unique settings. There are several different exhibits for you to enjoy, including a coral reef, a tropical rain forest, a penguin area and a shark lagoon.

You can also walk through a clear tunnel and watch as sharks circle around you. There is even an interactive area where you and your family can handle horseshoe crabs and gently pet stingrays.

Gatlinburg Sky Lift

You can ride to the top of Crockett Mountain on the Gatlinburg Sky Lift and enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the world. At a height of over 1,800 feet, you will have impressive views of the Smokey Mountains and the valley down below. While the scenery is incredible during the day, the entire area is especially beautiful when it is lit up at night.

There is a gift shop at the top of the mountain, and you can enjoy a variety of food and beverages while you are up there. You can also get a souvenir picture taken while you are in the lift.

Gatlinburg Space Needle

The Gatlinburg Space Needle is another way to see the city from above. You can ride to the top of this steel tower in a secure glass elevator and get an incredible panoramic view of the Smoky Mountains and the Gatlinburg area.

You can also enjoy a closer look at the scenery by using one of the many free view finders that are strategically placed around the observation deck. If you are interested in learning more about the area, you can listen to a detailed history of the Smokies and Gatlinburg while you are at the top.

If you are looking for some fun, there is an amusement park that is located at the base of the tower.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum

If you are looking for a completely different experience, and you are interested in things that are unusual and bizarre, you may want to visit the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Odditorium.

This museum was the basis for the popular TV show of the same name and features rare and uncommon exhibits from all over the world. While you are here, you can view a variety of oddities, including a two-headed calf, a mermaid, a gigantic tire and a shrunken head. The museum has been around for over 90 years and is open daily.

Hillbilly Golf

Hillbilly Golf is a zany miniature golf course that is built directly into the side of a mountain. If you are looking for a fun way to spend the day, you won’t want to miss this unique experience

To get to the beginning of the course, you must first ride the incline up the mountain. Once you arrive at the top, you can begin the game and work your way down to the bottom. The course’s distinct hillbilly theme includes old moonshine stills, outhouses and lots of twists and turns.

Oh, and if you’re a chocoholic like me, then you certainly won’t be disappointed with the copious amount of Swiss chocolate on offer in the city!
